How On Earth Did China Build a 57-Story Skyscraper in 19 Days?

As most of us go along existing in our daily rut, some extra ordinary human feats are taking place on other parts of the globe. We may not be aware of it, but there are people busy going about defying great odds and the bounds of reason with their amazing exploits.

A developer in China's construction industry, for instance, has just finished erecting a 57-story tower in an unprecedented time of just 19 days, or a little less than three weeks, as reported by Sploid Gizmodo. The Mini Sky City building, located in Changsa, Hunan Province, in the southern part of China, was built at a staggering rate of 3 floors in one day.

The record-breaking achievement was made possible with the use of prefabricated construction blocks that were lifted, conveyed, and put into place by gigantic mechanical cranes. This is like the full-scale and real life version of a building constructed in the "Lego" way.

The Daily Mail notes that the developer of the project, Broad Sustainable Building, opted for a construction methodology that is not just innovative in itself, but is also very eco-friendly. Today, China has a growing concern over its air pollution problem.

The use of prefab materials that were manufactured in a separate factory off the site not just resulted to a quick process. It also paved the way for the avoidance of what was supposed to be 15,000 truckloads of cement to be hauled in to the site that could have brought forth an accumulation of unwanted dust particles in the air. The people behind the construction also used super thick glass, and made sure that the process is also sealed "99.9 percent tight".

According to the Daily Mail, the project was originally projected to rise a record 220-storey in vertical height. The idea did not pan out because of restrictions brought about by the tower's close distance from a nearby airfield.

The Mini Sky property features 19 atriums, each of which has a height of 10 meters. The skyscraper will have 800 of its units dedicated for residential space, and is expected to provide office areas for thousands of working people.

Broad Sustainable Building was also able to build another tower with 30 floors in just a little over two weeks' time within the same area of the Hunan Province. They made a bold assertion that the technology used in the construction of the Mini Sky City modular tower is "the most profound innovation in human history".
