'Gran Turismo 7' PS4 Release Date & Gameplay: 'GT7' To Have Better Graphics, GPS Track Maker? [Rumors]

Fans of the racing video game, "Gran Turismo 7," have been waiting for a long time to get their hands on the latest and upgraded version of the series. While there seems to be no end yet to their wait, the developers are reportedly making sure its worth the long period as they add never before seen features in the video game.

Many fans expected the next installment of the popular car racing game to come out last year. This was due to the developers' announcement that they are already hard at work with the new game in 2013, said Venture Capital Post.

However, 2014 came and went and not even a shadow of the game was seen. The developers noted that the previously estimated timeline was not enough considering the amount of improvement they intend to make in "Gran Turismo 7."

Aside from better graphics for current-generation consoles, Polyphony Digital is also looking to ensure that the game would work well on game consoles when launched.

As "Gran Turismo 7" would only be available for current-generation Sony consoles, the people behind it would be able to focus on really improving the gameplay experience for the fans.

Perhaps one of the things players are looking forward with the upcoming video game is the inclusion of a GPS Track Maker. This feature has been in Beta Testing since 2014, noted Latin Times.

A June 2014 article in the said site noted that Federation Internationale de l'Automobile Head of Safety Jacques Berger was very amazed with the accuracy of the GPS Track Maker.

"It was not just the tracks that have been precisely mapped out, but also the surrounding landscapes such as the run-off areas, grandstands and buildings," said Berger.

The GPS Track Maker would allow players to "build their own circuits" and tracks, said GT Planet.

However, it remains to be seen if this feature would make it in "Gran Turismo 7."

Players could also see the introduction of new cars to the game's roster. According to Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi, the old models would be retained while the upcoming title will bring in new cars.

"I doubt we'll be throwing away the standard cars. Each car has its own fans. So I think we'll hang on to the archive. In the meanwhile, some of those cars we may be able to make into premium cars as they become available - but basically we're more focused on increasing the number of premium cars," said the CEO.

"Gran Turismo 7" is set to hit consoles in 2017.
