'Scandal' Season 5 Spoilers & Cast News: Cornelius Smith Jr. Becomes Series Regular Marcus Walker

The creators and producers of "Scandal" have decided to upgrade one cast member from being a guest star to a series regular in the upcoming fifth season. According to TV Line, Cornelius Smith Jr. has been tapped as a series regular and he will be playing the role of Marcus Walker.

This is not the first time that Smith Jr. will appear on "Scandal." In Season 4, the actor appeared in two episodes, more recently on the episode titled "The Lawn Chair." As of late, not much has been revealed about Smith Jr.'s character and whether or not he will be joining the Gladiators to team up with Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) or against her.

Meanwhile, there are speculations that Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) and Huck (Guillermo Diaz) will no longer make it until the end of Season 5. According to Day Herald, both actors previously talked about the possibility of being axed by series creator Shonda Rhimes.

In Season 4, Jake was almost killed by Rowan Pope's (Joe Morton) people. Despite speculations that he will not survive, he did and his character continued to live on until the end of the season. However, Foley also said that Rhimes already talked to him about the fate of his character so he knows that Jake's end is near.

Additionally, Diaz also teased Huck's future in Season 5. After teaming up with Rowan, Hulk will be troubled by his decision. With this, there is a chance that Huck will consider taking his own life, if only to save himself from emotional and mental torture. However, if Huck's story will continue until the end of the upcoming season, there are rumors that he will continue to work for Rowan and turn his back on Olivia for good.

"Scandal" Season 5 will premiere on ABC this coming September after "Grey's Anatomy."
