Marvel Studios President Kevin Faige recently announced Benedict Cumberbatch as the new Doctor Strange at Disney's D23 Expo. According to Mirror, Cumberbatch wasn't around during the announcement, but the actor released a message for his fans while he was overseas. The actor also provided some spoilers for the upcoming movie.
In the clip, the "Sherlock Holmes" actor said, "I'm very excited and very lucky to be taking on 'Doctor Strange.' He's an extraordinary character and brings in a whole 'nother dimension - multiple dimensions - to the Marvel Universe."
According to Venture Capital Post, Cumberbatch will give life to the neurosurgeon-turned-sorcerer who lost the use of his hands in a vehicular accident. Doctor Strange will then find himself in the Himalayans, where he will be trained to become a sorcerer.
Meanwhile, according to Cinema Blend, the filming for "Doctor Strange" already commenced but Marvel Studios is keeping it under wraps. However, the studio president recently released a photo of Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange.
In other news, Feige also introduced the upcoming movie "Captain America: Civil War," which he dubbed as the conclusion to the "Captain America" franchise. As of late, the cast members for the upcoming film are still shooting, but the production will wrap up in a week's time.
In the clip, Chris Evans' Captain America character could be seen in the bedroom and in the next scene he was featured battling it out with Crossbones. Falcon and Black Widow joined in the brawl while they are at the marketplace.
During the next scene, William Hurt's voice could be heard saying, "The world owed you an unpayable debt. People see you as a hero. There are some who prefer the world vigilante - people are afraid."
Captain America responded and said, "This job, you try to save as many as we can. Sometimes that doesn't mean everyone."
"Doctor Strange" is slated to be released in the United States on Nov. 4, 2016. "Captain America: Civil War" will be released on May 6, 2016.
