DC's "Legends of Tomorrow" is slated to premiere on the first part of 2016 and The CW has confirmed that it won't be making any more DC character spinoff series in the future.
We Got This Covered reported that during the TCA Tour, CW President Mark Pedowitz revealed that the network has no intentions of creating a new spinoff. Pedowitz' exact words were, "There is no intention at this point, to spin anything else off."
According to Science Fiction, the network's decision might be reasonable since by next year, about 30 percent of the programs in The CW will be about DC comics' materials, and it seems like the network does not want to alienate the viewers with comic book series. As of writing, the network has had a huge success with "Arrow" and "The Flash," and the addition of "Legends of Tomorrow" next year will add to the superhero programs of the network.
Reports also reveal that if "Legends of Tomorrow" turn out to be a flop, then there is a huge possibility that the network will cancel the show after one season. The website also revealed that there is a rumor circulating that "Arrow" is only going to last until five seasons.
If the rumors are true, the report estimates that the network has around two years to create a new spinoff show to replace the heroes of Starling City. Aside from that, Science Fiction speculates that even if "Arrow" ends after five seasons, the characters might reportedly still appear on "The Flash."
Unlike "Arrow" and "The Flash," DC's "Legends of Tomorrow" will feature different DC characters. It was reported that The CW is playing the long game with its DC adaptations as CBD will premiere its own "Supergirl" this fall.
As of writing, there is still no official release date for DC's "Legends of Tomorrow," but it was reported earlier that it will probably premiere during the early part of 2016.
