A new report has surfaced this week saying that "Persona 5" will be officially released in Japan this September. The game's release date coincides with the scheduled press conference of the Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asociation slated on September 15. Atlus, however, did not confirm if the rumored release date is official, but this development was hinted by the company's Press Relations Team, a report from Master Herald said on Monday.
According to the report, Atlus's PR team has revealed such information in some of its recent interviews. Earlier reports have suggested that once the game is launched in Japan this year, it is unlikely to arrive in other retail markets before the year ends. It was said that the game will focus on the official release date for Japan, North America and Europe.
In a God is a Geek interview, Atlus USA PR Manager, John Hardin, has confirmed that "Persona 5" is slated for a 2015 release date in Europe. However, numerous reports have suggested that the launch date for Europe will be in 2016, as there is no other date specified for the rest of the region.
"I'm working on getting those incorrect listing removed. We are trying to get publishers locked in for our titles in EU and will announce things when they are locked in. We are very aware of what happens when we make premature announcements for Europe. At least I am. The only thing I can confirm for 'Persona 5' is 2015," Hardin said as quoted in the interview.
"With only a few months left in 2015, it's more or less guaranteed that Sony will say something about the title's release prospects. In the best case scenario, an exact day of arrival might even be mentioned. A lingering fear for many fans, however, is that "Persona 5" could be delayed once more into 2016. Press still hasn't had any hands-on time with the title, and there have only been two gameplay trailers released so far. Despite this obvious dearth of details, Atlus remains committed to its 2015 release window. That might change on Sept. 15 of course," Design & Trend noted.
