Kate Spade’s Southampton House Price Chopped

Famous designer, Kate Spade has reportedly chopped off a small chunk from the asking price of her listed Southampton home.

She first listed her residence in 2011 with an asking price of $5.45 million. Sitting unclaimed in the market, the designer decided to spruce up the deal and has now listed it with a lower price tag of $4.7 million, reports Curbed.

According to listing records at Saunders, the residence is a stylish mansion spreading across an area of 6,700 square feet. Built in 1892, the place served as a boardinghouse for the William Merrit Chase summer art school. The home is a roman style residence with 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.

The place features cedar roofs, glass windows and deep porches. A formal living and dining room along with e huge eat-in kitchen also exists in the residence. A pool area, a separate guest house and a two care garage are some of its other features. The home sits in the middle of vast landscaped lawns and features a beautiful garden as well.

The residence also features a ballroom. A sizable basement and three cozy fireplaces also exist in the place. Spade lived in the Southampton home along with husband Andy Spade and their daughter, reports stylelite.com.

Spade initially worked for "Mademoiselle Magazine" and was the senior fashion editor for the publication. She shot to fame when she started designing her own handbags in 1993 after her marriage with Andy Spade. A $59 million investment went towards the development of her design line.

In 1996, she was titled "America's New Fashion Talent in accessories" by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The Kate Spade line of fashion covers many genres of product lines, right from perfumes to pajamas.

However, the Spade couple seems very detached with the activities of the business now. Though every product carries Spade's name on it, Kate is now a full time homemaker while Andy has his own creative agency, reports Business Insider.

The Kate Spade brand is one of the most affluent fashion brands in the country. The company will be launching a new fragrance "Live Colorfully" which will be available in both online and other stores from April 2013, reports GLAM.com
