The ‘Winds of Winter’ Is Coming, Book Release Date is 2016

"Game of Thrones" fans can finally get hold of the sixth book "The Winds of Winter" as early as 2016, if the statement of Spanish editor can be believed.

According to Independent.co.uk, in an interview with a local radio station, El món a RAC1, Alejo Cuervo said that the book six, "is planned for next year." Cuervo, who personally knows George R.R. Martin, is an editor for Spanish publisher Ediciones Gigamesh which owns the rights to the books.

"They have promised us that they will give us the [Spanish] manuscript before the release date in English, but it won't be a big difference (between the two dates)," Cuervo said. The radio host pressed on, "But it will also be during the next year for sure, won't it?"

"Yes. Well, for sure... unless a meteorite falls," answered Cuervo.

The publication of George R.R. Martin's next installment of "A Song of Ice and Fire" has been pushed back many times. Can fans expect the "Winds of Winter" book to be out before the "Game of Thrones" Season 6 premiere in April 2016? Well, Independent.co.uk said GRRM is thought to be working hard on the sequel and has, in fact, cancelling public appearances to make time for the book.

Meanwhile, in an interview with IGN, Ian Beattie (Ser Meryn Trant) said he had a chance to speak with GRRM in San Francisco earlier this year. But while he said the author told him a lot about his character, Beattie can't give any exact details.

Instead, Beattie teased: "There are things that are going to be happening in book six. I do, once again, have my own theory that anybody who is alive at the end of book five but who met their fate in Season 5, I would be surprised if they didn't catch up quite quick in book six. It's my belief that Mr. Martin has a fair idea and knows exactly what is going on, of course, with all the storylines. I'm sure him and David and Dan would sit down on a regular basis and work out what's going to work out with all these storylines. So I think there will be, as there always is, many surprises in book six. I do think somewhere down the line both the television series and the books will tie it all up very nicely for the fans."
