Apple iPhone will release a complete lineup of emojis next year along with the iOS9.1 update. It will include the much awaited middle finger emoji.
It's not a secret that when it comes to conveying one's feelings on a text message or social post, it is hard to beat an emoji. Aside from the fact that it is faster and more direct to the point, it is also very helpful in keeping awkwardness off any uncomfortable conversation. However, according to Gizmodo, Apple has not released the middle finger emoji yet not because it thinks it's inappropriate or vulgar but is actually waiting for the Unicode Consortium to approve all available versions in different platforms. The Unicode Consortium is the regulating and controlling body for emojis and characters in order for them to run perfectly across all the different platforms available.
Emojipedia's Jeremy Burge agrees with Apple's line of reasoning saying that once the latest iOS update rolls out, the iPhone will have the first operating system to feature all the Unicode characters starting from version 8.0. By doing this, all Apple users are able to catch up with the middle finger emoji fad while at the same time getting a whole new set of emojis that are not yet available in Windows, Android, or any other mobile platform.
In a report by The Guardian, it is not just the middle finger emoji that is considered highly anticipated by iPhone users. There is the burrito emoji and the unicorn that figure to come with the flipped-bird sign soon. There are also other designs like flags for various places like Christmas Island, the Vatican, and Antarctica. Sports lovers will also have a field day with the addition of new options like cricket, field hockey, and archery. Even other religions are now represented by emojis like a mosque and a synagogue.
