Restoration Hardware to open Restaurant in its Boston Store

Restoration Hardware, the famous American furniture and décor chain, will add an eatery to its Back Bay Store in Boston.

Restoration Hardware will open the doors of its brand new store on March 7, 2013. The company has refurbished the building, which once served as the New England Museum of Natural History, reports Curbed.

The museum authorities moved to their current location near Charles River in 1951.Later, the building was occupied by famous fashion retail chain- LouisBoston, owned by Debi Greenberg.

Greenberg vacated the building to move her store to a new luxury high-rise in Boston, Fan Pier in 2010. The building has been lying vacant since then.

The three-story building is spread across an area of 40,000 square feet and was built in the nineties by famous architect, Williams Gibbons Preston.

Restoration Hardware first announced plans of setting up a store in the building in 2011. The store was slated to open earlier but the furniture giant came up with a new plan of adding a third-floor restaurant to its new venture, reports Boston Herald.

Restoration Hardware got the required permissions from the Licensing and Building Use Committee of Boston, reports BostInno.

"Basically what was presented to the board was that on the third floor, they'll have a level where you can sit down on their own patio furniture and have beer or wine and some small bites that they'll be offering." Nicole Mulati Ferrer, Chairwoman of the Licensing Board told The Boston Herald.

The new eatery will not only serve beer and wine, but will also host small private events. Earlier, Restoration Hardware had planned a basement level restaurant at the Boylston Street side of the building, which it later withdrew. The side will now have a paved courtyard with fountains furnished with the company's own benches.
