Jessa Duggar Seewald gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Thursday, Nov. 5. The baby, weighing at 9 lbs, 10 oz., is Jessa and husband Ben's first child. The new mom welcomed her baby via home birth as she has planned, but not everything went smoothly.
According to TMZ, 23-year-old Jessa was rushed to the hospital right after giving birth due to complications. Her mother, Michelle Duggar, made the 911 call. In the audio file, obtained by the Daily Mail, Michelle was astonishingly calm as she spoke with the emergency dispatcher.
"Mother is bleeding after birth. We need her to be checked out," Michelle said in the 911 call.
"There was quite a bit of blood when the placenta detached, but the uterus is hard now," she added.
The 911 officer reminded her to make sure the baby and the mother are safe, and to keep the baby in a blanket. Michelle is heard repeating the officer's instructions to her companions until the ambulance finally arrived.
Neither Jessa nor any Duggar has given an update on her medical scare, but based on the photos they have been posting on social media, it seems both Jessa and the baby are doing well. Jessa and Ben posted the first official set of photos of their baby boy on their blog.

The Duggars are known to support a traditional and conservative lifestyle and are advocates of home birthing. Jessa gave birth in the same house where her sister-in-law Anna, wife of her brother Josh, gave birth to their first two children, in 2009 and 2011. Last April, her sister Jill also prepared for a home birth but was rushed to the hospital due to complications.
Prior to giving birth, Jessa wrote in their family blog that she is sticking to plan A, but is open for a plan B.
"We have lots of relatives and friends who have had wonderful experiences with giving birth at home, and we are excited and hopeful that our experience will be the same," she said. "We also realize that sometimes (as in Jill's case), a transfer to the hospital may be necessary, and our birth plan definitely includes a plan B."
Fans of the Duggars are expecting to witness Jessa's birthing experience on her new TLC special, "Jill & Jessa: Counting On," set to air this December.
