"Final Fantasy VII" Cloud Strife Release Date Leaked on Twitter, Leak-ster Gets Backlash From "Super Smash Bros." Fans

The leak-ster who tweeted a photo showing the release date of the much-awaited Cloud Strife from "Final Fantasy VII" in "Super Smash Bro." is currently getting major backlash from the gaming community.

@Chalexiss claims that he saw the link to the website that states "Cloud Strife" and the Midgar Stage will be released on the hit Nintendo fighting game on Dec. 3, 2015. When another Twitter user asked for a link, he said that the link no longer works because the announcement had been pulled. So instead, he tweets a snap of his computer screen showing the said release date.

Unfortunately no one believed him. A big wave of fans came at him via Twitter accusing him that he had merely "Photoshopped" the page before taking a snap and posting it on social media. A few have tweeted their own edited versions of the announcement page to show how easy it was to fake an announcement and post it as a leak.

On the other hand, in the most recent Nintendo Direct, the company has announced that a special broadcast dedicated to Super Smash Bros. will be aired this December.

According to TechBuffalo, the company said, "A New Challenger Approaches!: Cloud Strife - the legendary protagonist from the classic RPG game FINAL FANTASY VII - will enter the battlefield as a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS in the future. Additionally, a special broadcast - the last one for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS - will be released in December. More information is available at."

It is possible that Cloud's release on "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS would follow the Direct Broadcast, or it is also possible his release will be officially announced during the broadcast. Until then, it is better to treat @Chalexiss' tweet with a grain of salt.
