Good news to all "Minecraft" players because Nintendo and Mojang just announced on Monday that the best-selling sandbox game is coming to Wii U console on Dec. 17.
"That's a surprise, eh?" Mojang said on his website. It has been reported that the "Minecraft" for Wii U will cost $30 and it will be available for download on the eShop. The good thing about it is that it comes as a bundle with six popular add-ons packs and "festive mash-up" themed perfect for the holidays.
'Minecraft" for Wii U comes with the following packs:
1. Battle & Beasts Skin Pack
2. Battle & Beasts 2 Skin Pack
3. Natural Texture Pack
4. City Texture Pack
5. Fantasy Texture Pack
6. Festive Mash-up Pack
To add more to that, it is also expected that they will add more content packs as Mojang said, "We'll be adding more content packs to Wii U Edition in the near future (Wa-hoo!), and updating the core game with free updates, just like our other platforms."
Mojang added, "As a quick reminder: all DLC packs are optional. You can have significant amounts of fun playing Minecraft without spending extra cash."
According to GameSpot, Mojang also confirmed that "Minecraft" Wii U edition also features off-TV play which will allow gamers to continue playing using GamePad.
Inquisitr shared that GamePad can continue playing while somebody else is using the television though it was not mentioned how the console handle split screen play.
For PlayStation and Xbox versions, it supports four play split screen but it is not certain if it will work the same way with GamePad controller nor how multiplayer will work with "Minecraft" Wii U.
Meanwhile, this announcement made by Nintendo and Mojang is not as exciting as it should be given that the rating board already listed the title back in November.
