After the successful run of "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" passing the $1 billion mark after its release earlier this year, it is not so hard to believe that Disney would reload its guns and create a sequel right away. For a film powerhouse that amassed billions of dollars from its highly celebrated films, including "Frozen" and Marvel's "Iron Man", it would certainly want to reel around opportunities and create one sequel after another.
Many are contemplating about "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" as the next big thing for Disney, but wait 'til you see because Disney eyes its next billion dollar on something not as expected to be so spectacular. You might not believe to hear it but Disney Pixar's "Inside Out" may just be the bombshell to watch out for.
Now, how could something that's so less of graphics may be appealing for audience to watch? Don't get us wrong but "Inside Out" isn't the calibre that depicts celestial battles, with aliens and outlandish creatures fighting against each other, drawing so much excitement from moviegoers.
It's actually a pretty simple movie. Simple in a sense that it is naive, chronicling a story of young girl, Riley Anderson, who's led by her five emotions: joy, anger, disgust, fear and sadness. However, since "Frozen" likewise brought home the billion dollar bacon, hopes can still be high regardless.
So what puts it at the top of Disney's next $1 billion dollar movie?
Well, the answers may not be apparent by simply looking at face value. It needs some kind of digging into the core of the production.
According to an article published by The Motley Fool, "Inside Out" will be the next big thing because "it's being directed by Pete Docter, the same man behind both Monsters, Inc. and Up. Both films earned rare A+ CinemaScores from polled audiences, practically guaranteeing that they would have enduring success from positive word of mouth and repeat viewings over the course of their theatrical runs."
Also the movie will be Pixar's lone release after two years since "Monsters University." And while the animation is not as stark as that of "Avengers" and "Star Wars", the storyline may just make up for it.
Also, Disney is systematically marketing the movie by creating variations on important features on its trailer - "Instead of the soccer game as shown in the U.K. trailer, the father's emotions are watching hockey in the beginning of the U.S. version", The Motley Fools reports.
"Inside Out" is expected to hit movie theatres on June 19, 2015. While there are so many assumptions about it being the next billion dollar movie for Disney, it remains a question until after its release next year.
