Scarlett Johansson has already been confirmed to appear in the third installment, "Captain America: Civil War" as Black Widow/ Natasha Romanoff.
In a recent interview with Chinese Media, via MoviePilot, directors Anthony and Joe Russo recognize the chemistry between Johansson and actor Chris Evans (Captain America) thus, those two characters would remain intact for the upcoming movie.
"We've been preparing for the movie since the last one debuted last year. So, we've been working on it for a long time now. We're very happy how it's coming along. Captain America 3 is gonna be called Captain America: Civil War and it's going to star Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson will be back, Winter Soldier [Sebastian Stan] will be back, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man will also be joining us in the next film... The new element in this film is that Captain America and Iron Man get into a fight with each other."
Many fans grew increasingly worried as to the fate of the Black Widow following new of her supposed importance in the soon-to-be-released movie, "Avengers: Age of Ultron," along with trailer footage of her character in jeopardy.
Fans can now rest easy as it seems, the Black Widow's character lives to film another day.
Commenting on the great balance the Widow and Captain have, "[Black Widow is] a great-both in attitude and in profession-a great contrast to Steve Rogers. She's incredibly modern, not very reverent, and just very straightforward whereas Steve is, you know a man from the 40s. He's not a boy scout, but he is reserved and has a moral center, whereas her moral center moves," said "Captain America: The First Avenger" screenwriter Christopher Markus, as quoted by Collider.
Given such a dynamic partnership, it's being reported by IB Times that the next film is believed to take off from the intimate relationship the two Avengers had in "Captain America: Winter Soldier."
"Black Widow and Captain America also developed an intimate relationship in 'Captain America: Winter Soldier' and it is expected that their romance will be the focal point of the film," claimed the website.
Should the writers and director chuck a romantic future between the pair, another angle could be the Captain with Agent Peggy Carter, also rumored to be involved with the third film.
"Captain America: Civil War" is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016. The film stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Sebastian Stan, Chadwick Boseman, Anthony Mackie and more. A trailer has yet to be released.
