Ariana Grande and Nathan Sykes managed to stay friends, despite an emotional breakup, says Hollywood Take. However, it was reported that The Wanted member has just dished details about his relationship with his ex-girlfriend.
While they were still happily dating, they had both told Glamour Magazine about their intentions of writing songs about each other. Despite being separated for more than a year now, Sykes still took the plunge and wrote about his former flame. "One of the songs is about Ariana," he told the Daily Star.
Many of today's artists have opted to keep mum about their private lives, and have decided to be fairly secretive with regards to what their songs are about. However, Sykes wanted to be open and admitted to his fans and followers that Grande influenced him to write the song, says Fashion & Style.
As soon as news about the Grande-centered track surfaced on the Internet, fans wanted to know how Grande was taking it. "Knowing Ari, she'll corner me the next time we bump into each other and demand I play her the song," Sykes told Daily Star.
Although many might immediately think that he might have bashed Grande in the song, it is actually not filled with any hurtful sentiment. It turns out that Sykes is actually a very nice guy. He might have written about the breakup, but he took the high road and opted not to make Grande look bad.
"It is a nice song," he revealed, as reported by Cambio. "She has nothing to worry about. I'm not scared of her reaction. It's very complimentary and emotional, actually. She will hear it and think, 'Oh. So, you do have feelings.'"
Sykes previously admitted with The Sun, according to Fashion & Style, that the most emotional part of the song was telling himself not to be mad about the breakup. "Sometimes, things just don't work out," Sykes said. "That's life. It's important not to be selfish with writing so there's not detailed version of events. And there's no bad blood. She's a lovely girl."
True enough, there is no bad blood between these two musicians. However, a separate Fashion & Style report claims that Sykes is still trying to get over Grande. "We split because of the long distance thing," he shared. "There was that amazing moment at the start of the relationship where we both convinced ourselves, 'Yeah. Long distance won't matter. It will be fine.' But it was impossible."
