The Walt Disney Company on Wednesday announced plans to build a new residential community in North Carolina as part of its Storyliving by Disney project.
Disney's Storyliving project is designed to build a vibrant community that will "cater to those looking to write [the] next chapter of their lives with Disney," as reported by People, citing the Walt Disney Company's announcement.
The new residential community will be called "Asteria" and will intend to create a "vibrant community where the beauty of nature and allure of new discoveries beckon."
"Surrounded by breathtaking scenery comes a one-of-a-kind, new home community just outside Raleigh, North Carolina. Welcome to a place that will be woven into the beautiful Carolina landscape-embracing nature in its very design. A haven intended to nurture the soul and open the path to discovery," Disney wrote on its website.
What Are Disney's Plans for Asteria?
Asteria is expected to cover 1,5000 acres and feature more than 4,000 single- and multi-family residential units. The community will welcome homeowners of all ages, with some accommodations made to cater specifically to adults aged 55 and older.
Homeowners who purchase a property in Disney's Asteria will have access to a range of amenities, including a clubhouse, wellness center, community garden, and an extensive trail system.
Sales for homes in the community are expected to begin by 2027. No pre-sale information was released. It is also unclear how much the homes in Asteria would be sold.
Other Residential Communities by Disney
Asteria is not Disney's first residential community. In February 2022, Storyliving by Disney announced plans to build a community named Cotino in Rancho Mirage in California's Coachella Valley.
The Cotino community is already in progress, with single-family homes anticipated to start from the upper $1 million bracket to the lower $2 million range.
The Cotino community will be surrounded by Longtable Park, which is exclusive to community residents. The park is expected to feature desert landscaping, a grove of palo verde and olive trees, bocce ball courts, and barbeque grills.
In addition, the Cotino community will also feature an equestrian-themed dog park and a little desert park.
