Mattel on Wednesday announced plans to open a second Mattel Adventure Park in Bonner Springs, Kansas, in 2026.
In a press release, Mattel said it is partnering with Epic Resort Destinations to build the second park. The Kansas location is expected to offer attractions similar to those found in the Mattel Adventure Park in Glendale, Arizona.
"Mattel, Inc., through a licensing partnership with Epic Resort Destinations, today announced plans for a second Mattel Adventure Park location in an all-new entertainment resort destination located in Bonner Springs, Kansas. The all-new, family-friendly themed entertainment destination is set to open in 2026, with plans to break ground later this year," the press release read.
Which Attractions Will Feature in Mattel's Kansas Location?
Theme parkgoers who plan to visit the Kansas location once it begins operating can look forward to Hot Wheels-inspired roller coasters, including the Bone Shaker: The Ultimate Ride and the Hot Wheels Twin Mill Racer. On the other hand, younger parkgoers can look forward to enjoying the World of Sodor, which is inspired by Mattel's Thomas & Friends.
Additionally, the Mattel Adventure Park Kansas City will feature a "larger-than-life" Barbie Beach House where parkgoers can build customized Barbie sets in the Barbie Dream Closet Experience. The beach house would also feature a Barbie-themed flying theater and a rooftop restaurant and bar.
Other attractions include He-Man vs Skeletor Laser Tage, a mini 18-hole golf course inspired by Magic 8 Ball and Pictionary, and a larger-than-life custom climb UNO structure.
"We are thrilled to expand these themed entertainment destinations and invite new fans to experience the world of Mattel in all-new ways as they create lasting memories with loved ones," Josh Silverman, Chief Franchise Office at Mattel, said.
Mattel announced its first Adventure Park in August 2023. The first theme park, which will be located in Glendale, Arizona, is slated to open this year. That theme park is expected to span nine acres.
In contrast to the Kansas City location, the Arizona park will be located at VAI Resort and will also feature the man-made Konos Island, in addition to the Mattel rides and attractions listed above.
