New York City is filled with lavish homes, each with its own charm and amenities. However, one home in Greenwich Village recently listed for sale has perhaps one of the most unique features---the world's tallest private rock-climbing wall.

The home is a 4,200-square-foot, five-story townhouse just steps from the Comedy Cellar. The property, purchased by architect Adam Kushner in 2013, features an 83-foot private rock-climbing wall that goes up to the rooftop. It is believed to be the tallest privately owned rock-climbing wall in the world.

"[The owner] is a rock climber, and I guess his thought was, 'What do I do with this space?' and he said, 'I like to rock climb, and I could build my own,'" Diane Wildowsky, with Sotheby's International Realty, told Realtor.com.

Landmark Building

Apart from its unique climbing wall, the building is also located in a landmarked Greenwich Village neighborhood. This means the area has been officially recognized for its significance to history, culture, or architecture and is subjected to certain protections and regulations. In Greenwich Village, the facade could not be changed. The outside strikes a classic look, providing a big contrast with the interior's more modern design.

Other Features

Some other features of the property include a glass enclosure over an area that was once an old carriage house. This enclosure now serves as a gym area. There is also a woodpile in the home's living space, which doubly serves as an art piece when stocked with logs.

The rooftop also features another glass enclosure that opens up to a courtyard with sweeping city views. A plumbed kitchen, a barbecue area, and solar panels are also on the roof deck.

The kitchen features top-of-the-line appliances, including a 48 double oven, a six-burner stove with grill, and marble countertops. The kitchen opens into an interior courtyard with access to the lower level and the laundry room. It also leads to a carriage house with a three-sided glass elevator.

The property has four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms.

The listing is currently held by Sotheby's International Realty. The townhouse is for sale for $20 million.
