Nothing much has been officially confirmed about “The Expendables 4,” and there have been a lot of rumors about the upcoming action blockbuster that tend to mislead its fans. Moreover, the majority of the rumors circulating on the Internet are actually contradicting one another.
According to the rumor mill, Sylvester Stallone approached Jackie Chan and appealed to the internationally famous martial arts expert to be part of the action franchise’s fourth installment. However, Chan was reportedly not interested in becoming part of “The Expendables” franchise but willing to work with Sly in a more personal project, according to Master Herald.
It is unclear if such project will be in the works soon. However, considering both of their highly busy schedules, it appears that such deal in the near future is unlikely. Furthermore, Jason Statham, a regular star of the franchise, is reportedly having second thoughts of returning to reprise his role after finding out that Justin Bieber is being considered as a villain, as reported by DNA India.
As indicated in the report, Statham, who plays the role of Lee Christmas, is not convinced that the “Beauty and the Beat” singer has what it takes to be part of the franchise and that his fighting skills are not “up to scratch.”
Regardless of the fact that the ticket sales were not so good for the franchise’s third movie last year, the “Transporter” star is reportedly interested to work with Stallone once again, precisely because working with the legendary action star is “beyond a ‘pinch yourself’ moment.”
“To be directed by him in a movie that he has produced, and to be shoulder-to-shoulder with Sly is a privilege anyone who loves action movies would never turn their nose up at,” he told IGN, according to Franchise Herald. “I will do as many as he wants. It is not my thing to dream up the ideas and what is in store. One, do I want to do another one? Two, people are tired of it already? You do not know.”
It remains unclear whether Bieber will be part of “The Expendables 4.” What Sly did confirm was that he will make sure that the group will be placed in “an unnatural environment” that features a “fish-out-of-water scenario.” According to him, this new “environment” will be “just as jarring” as a “time travel” concept.
Director Patrick Hughes, who will be reprising his role as the movie’s director, hinted that “The Expendables 4” will be “outside the box.” “Let us do something really different,” he told Crave Online, referring to his recent conversation with Stallone.
