“Dancing with the Stars” Season 10 cast member Chris Soules might decide to pull out of the show after he injured his calf muscle during rehearsals. He was practicing with his dance partner, Witney Carson, and was blocking his dance for the cameras when he suddenly fell down in what looked like an immensely painful tumble.
“Chris pulled his calf muscle yesterday in rehearsals,” a source told Us Weekly. “And then, today, he collapsed on the stage during camera blocking. He is in a lot of pain and in physical therapy now seeing if he can dance tonight.”
This injury could prove to be detrimental to the further participation of Carson and Soules in the famous ABC dance competition. “They are both discouraged by their scores from the judges,” the insider added. In last week’s episode, the duo was criticized by one of the judges, Julianne Hough, who was an alumnus pro dancer of “Dancing with the Stars.” According to her critique, “What is missing is a little connection between the both of you.”
Alfonso Ribiero, who had won Season 19’s mirror ball trophy with Carson, visited Soules during rehearsals and gave him a few dancing tips, according to PEOPLE. “It is not really about the technique,” he told the 43-year-old former “Bachelor.” “It is the fun that is missing from you guys.”
Although it is normal for a former dance champ to visit some contestants, Ribiero’s quick stopover at Soules’s camp might indicate that he and Carson are pretty much in hot water within the competition. Ribiero might have noticed a downward trend with the routines of his former dance partner and Soules that he decided to swoop in and cheer them up.
After Ribiero’s visit, the mood clearly lifted. The dance studio became full of laughter and good vibes, all thanks to their surprise mentor. “You are like a little ray of sunshine,” the 33-year-old Soules told the former star of “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”
Carson and Soules have never been among the show’s leading contenders and actually scored the lowest in the fourth week of “DWTS.” This compelled the panel of judges to give them their harshest criticism as of yet. “I have to judge purely on the dancing,” said Len Goodman. “That was not that great.”
As of the moment, Soules is still in pain. That said, sources who claim to be close to the contestant insisted that he will only know if he can continue in the competition “after dress rehearsal.”
