"Outlander" recently capped off its outstanding first season with an episode titled, "To Ransom A Man's Soul." Now that the cast of the Starz series are already back on set for Season 2, showrunner Ron Moore teases that there will be "twists and turns that aren't in the book."

"Outlander" Season 2 will see the return of Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall, and Tobias Menzies as Frank Randall. While most fans are already aware by now that the second season will be covering Diana Gabaldon's second book, "Dragonfly in Amber," showrunner Ron Moore revealed that there will be scenes that are bound to surprise the audience.
"There will be twists and turns that aren't in the book. The second book is more complex than the first book is. It's a little tougher challenge to adapt it," Moore told Deadline.
The showrunner also admitted that "Outlander" Season 2 will be different in such a way that the time traveler series will be taking on a serious political issue, wherein Jamie and Claire have to change the entire course of history. He also admitted that it's a challenge to translate the book into a TV series because the second book is much more complex than the first one.
Meanwhile, Scottish actor Sam Heughan revealed to Zap2It that he is excited to see his character age, as the series undergoes a time jump. Balfe also shared the same sentiments and revealed that she did a lot of research to play the part.
"Now I get to play a woman who has a child who's in her late teens who's gone through this whole life of experience. That's going to be really interesting," Balfe said.
Moore previously revealed in an earlier interview that Heughan and Balfe's roles will not be portrayed by another actor when "Outlander" goes through the time jump.
