Stylist Brandon Maxwell, who constantly dresses up Lady Gaga, will now launch his own ready-to-wear clothes at New York Fashion Week.
Fashionista reports that Lady Gaga's stylist will branch out his clothing line. He has made public his upcoming ready-to-wear collection that he has been working on lately under his own name. His flair collection will be showcased during the New York Fashion Week in September.
In "The Hollywood Reporter's Prestigious list", Maxwell is named as one of the 25 most powerful stylists in 2015. He was on the cover with his number 1 client Lady Gaga. It was reported that Maxwell started working as an assistant to stylist Nicola Formichetti, Lady Gaga's former stylist. He then occupied the position when Nicola Formichetti gave up her role as Lady Gaga's stylist in 2013.
Glamour Fashion says that Brandon Maxwell's collection will be a parade of evening wear, clean suits and formal gowns. Maxwell has been designing Lady Gaga's evening wear from a sophisticated-yet-retro gown that she wore on "Cheek To Cheek Tour" with Tony Bennet, not to mention the the Alaïa gown during Oscars.
According to Style, Brandon Maxwell has been recognized for the red carpet look of Lady Gaga. But the designer assured that what he will showcase during the NYFW is nothing like the futuristic fashion choices of Lady Gaga. He said that his collection would not have that kind of shock factor. For the Texas-born Maxwell, he said that it's important that his collection is humble and is taken seriously. "I want people to say it was well made and well thought out," he added.
Though Brandon barely talked on the subject, he gave some clues of what to expect during the Fashion Week. He said that his favorite decades are the 80s and 90s. He also mentioned that he's not the typical designer who likes skinny blank models. He grew up admiring iconic supermodels including those Amazon beauties. "I like everything to be 'more is more.' I like bigger silhouettes, broad shoulders, tight waists," he revealed.
