Cynefin, the luxury home of business angel Peter Saunders, has been put on the market for just under £1m, reports the DailyPost UK. Entrepreneur-philanthropist Peter Saunders is the man behind the success of Halo Foods Group, a million-pound business in the UK. Saunders and his wife, Judith, are planning to move out of the Snowdonia foothills home to begin a new chapter in their lives.
Halo Foods is one of the largest manufacturers of healthy snack bars in Europe and is estimated to have a net worth of £9M. Their products include Meal Replacement Bars, Sports & Energy Bars, Chocolate enrobed Cereal Bars and many more.
Acclaimed author on architecture, Sir Simon Jenkins, has written about the luxury home in WalesOnline, saying that Cynefin is an "outstanding example of British craftsmanship in wood and recalling the artistry of Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi." Jenkins writes for the Guardian as well as broadcasts for the BBC. He has edited the Times and the London Evening Standard and chaired the National Trust.
Located at the head of the magnificent Dysynni Valley in southern Snowdonia, the lavish house has views across the mountains and towards the coast. Its unique hobbit-house design fits snugly into the syrrounding countryside and blends innovative sloping roofline with traditional materials. Cynifin is built with local stone, Welsh oak and Welsh slate by local artisan and carpenters. The house also has solar panels and under-floor heating.
Cynifin was designed by award-winning architect and sculptor Christopher Day with Pembrokeshire architect Julian Bishop. The report continues that Peter said: "We didn't have any pre-conceived ideas. We bought a plot of land that already had planning permission for two bungalows and talked to the Snowdonia National Park about what was possible." The business tycoon added that, "Christopher's background as a sculptor is evident in many aspects of the design...The result is truly amazing."
Built in 2002, the property is being sold through Mid Wales and Shropshire property surveyors and estate agents Morris, Marshall and Poole. The property surveyors and estate agents estimate Cynifin to go at around £985,000.
