A June 25 indictment regarding the Lil Wayne tour bus shooting incident revealed this week that rappers Young Thug and Birdman were responsible for the shoot out. Jimmy Carlton Winfrey was the first individual indicted for the incident after he was found with an assault rifle in his vehicle. He was charged on 30 counts which included aggravated assault and racketeering.
The Boston Herald reported that the incident happened while Lil Wayne was at his Atlanta Tour last April. The rapper's two buses were shot along Interstate 285 in Cobb County Atlanta, Georgia. The indictment further revealed that the shooting incident might have stemmed from the rappers' feud regarding their contract with Cash Money Records. Reports have stated that Lil Wayne had filed a criminal lawsuit against the record label in New York saying that they owed Lil Wayne 8 million dollars.
The Daily Mail UK also reported on how the indicted rappers Young Thug and Birdman were linked to the bus shooting incident. After Young Thug was reported to have been booed off stage, the two tour buses were then shot. Luckily, no one was injured throughout the shooting incident. Reports said that Winfrey was contacted by Birdman via a cellular phone. The phone which Winfrey had used on the other hand belonged to Young Thug. It was also revealed through further investigation that Winfrey was a former tour manager of Young Thug. In addition, it was also revealed that both Young Thug and Birdman had also worked together before on collaborations.
Although Young Thug is currently in custody after threatening to shoot a mall security guard, neither he or Birdman were charged with any crimes regarding the bus shooting, according to TMZ. Further reports by TMZ revealed that Winfrey, after receiving the call from Birdman, allegedly went to the Mandarin Hotel which was where Lil Wayne and his entourage were staying at during the tour. Although there were suspicions that Winfrey was ordered to 'finish the job', police are yet to find out what Winfrey was really doing at the hotel that evening.
Further investigation is still needed for official charges to be filed against Young Thug and Birdman regarding the shooting incident.
