Actor Wendell Pierce is having some issues with Faubourg Marigny Improvement Association. According to nola.curbed.com, "He blasted the group in a series of tweets over a vacant property on St. Claude Avenue that Pierce and business partner Troy Henry want to develop."
The New Orleans born actor Wendell Pierce used social media to show his displeasure. A tweet by Pierce shows how he completely disagrees with the association. He tweeted "Faubourg Marigny Improvement Association is trying to steal a property from me to stop my business on St.Claude. Not hipster enough? Gentrification."
Another tweet from Pierce was, "Faubourg Marigny Improvement Association is just a front for developers posing as civic activists to dominate and control the real estate for profit." The actor has been rattling more and more in his social media accounts. The president, Lisa Suarez also responded by saying that "When somebody sent me an email and copied the tweet of Mr. Pierce attacking our organization as working for developers. Well, I just want to ask Mr. Pierce, could you please let us know which developers those are?"
The president of the Faubourg Marigny Improvement Association is just desiring for a sensitive development for their place and it seems that Wendell Pierce and his business partner can't deliver what they needed. The proposal has received plenty of opposition from historical preservationist about the demolition of the historic structure as stated in a report by wdsu.com.The property is located at 2501 St. Claude. It was once an auto parts store, but has remained vacant for years.
Both Wendell Pierce and Troy Henry wants to develop the property into a Shell station but along with that development is the destruction of some historical sites that Faubourg Marigny Improvement Association wants to protect.
With the growing discomfort, a meeting was held between the two parties and Pierce was not around due to travel commitments. Wendell Pierce who has been in the industry has a total network of $2 million as stated in a report by celebritynetworth.com. Pierce is most widely known for his works on HBO dramas such as "The Wire" and "Treme".
