Star Wars Episode VIII's main vallain role has been offered to Benicio Del Toro. But the Oscar-Winning Actor Del Toro has not expressed his interest to take the role yet.
The Wrap says that some sources who were aware of the casting process of Star Wars have shared that Disney and Lucasfilm are aiming on the Oscar-winning "Traffic" star for the important role. However, none from the Disney has confirmed the rumors concerning BenicioDel Toro playing the main villain.
ScreenRant also has similar report. It says that the negotiation between two parties are still in the "very early stages." Benecio Del Toro has done a film with Disney Studios before. He played the character "The Collector" of Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," though that role was small, was said to have been exciting and fun according to Del Toro in his previous interview with ScreenRant.
In a separate report, ScreenRant says that Star Wars fans are eager as they have been counting down the days until J.J Abrams would finish building the film's future. It is also reported that Disney is aiming for its success concerning its $4 billion investment. It hopes to release fresh and innovative anthology films that are set in a far away galaxy - the Star Wars Universe. This "standalone anthology" is created to fill the "gaps between the core episodes of the sequel trilogy."
Star Wars Episode VIII would be released in theaters in 2017. Consequently, the studio has only less than 2 years in getting the project done.
Talks are ongoing for Benecio Del Toro to be on board for the main villain role. Considering everything would go well and would fall into its rightful place, Benicio appears to be the right person for them. He is known for playing excellent, diverse range of characters in all the movies he made, and has proven his worth. As of press time, there have been no details yet on the proposed role.
