Searching for a new home is a major task for new and veteran homeowners alike. Significant life changes can move homeowners in looking for that place to stay.
According to thinkwithgoogle.com, retirement planning or having an additional family member are the foremost reasons for these real estate searches. A Consumer Survey conducted by Google in April of this year showed relevant home search preferences. These preferences include checking out potential real estate agents online prior to working with them. Also, 50% of these consumers start looking for new homes as early as less than a year before ultimately making that moving decision.
In the same article, GenXers or Millenials have expressed increased interests in looking for a place of their own other than just crashing their parents' place. A 30% increase on real estate web searches was done by Millenials according to the analysis made by Smoke of comScore Media-Metrix during the period of May 2013 - June 2014.
A report from nreionline.com states the Millenial generation (or those aged 18 to 34 in 2015) are already taking part of the search caravan for residential real estate. These are technology-minded individuals showing interest in real estate property that virtually allows them to view the interior or exterior part of a potential home online.
According to forbes.com, 10 mobile apps that feature online real estate listings are also becoming a more popular home search trend nowadays. Zillow is a mobile-based app that tops the list of property finders that Android, iOS and Web users find easy to use. Its multi-use platform includes MLS numbers on their property listings. Sitegeist is another app that not only lists the basics of a property listed but also its location's demographics, residents' age range, commuting or transport trends and the like. Both can be downloaded for free. Check the rest here in this video.
