According to a report by LA Downtown News, the Broadway Trade Center is now undergoing a huge makeover. Its exterior, columns and archways are in the process of restoration. However, the highlight of the development which is to transform the 1.1million-square-foot structure has yet to begin.
The eight-storey structure will be transformed into a 15-storey building. Five mezzanine-type levels inside and three rooftop levels will be added. These floors will comprise a food hall, bars, retail stores, a hotel, a rooftop public park, and more.
LA Curbed reports the following as the features offered in every floor:
The first floor features the Earth Market which will be occupied by 20 smaller food vendors and 4 full-scale restaurants. The market is intended to be "a twist on Grand Central Market." The renovation will also create a mezzanine that looks out on the market, wherein four bars will be situated.
It will also have retail stores, and they are now looking for three prospective tenants who will serve as anchors. That trio will occupy a space of about 15,000 and 30,000 square feet.
The developers have not yet revealed the plans for the second floor, but the third floor will serve as an office space. It will be expected that the leases will be occupied by some big companies. The floor can also hold as many as 3,000 people.
The fifth and sixth floors were installed with a restaurant, bar, spa, and a private club. The seventh floor is intended to be the pampering place for the occupants.
The 42,000-square-foot roof offers a public green space, one restaurant, two bars, and an Olympic-sized pool. It is also expected that this area will hold movie screenings, concerts, and other events, according to LA Curbed.
Although there are no formal confirmations yet, the 153-room hotel is expected to be somewhere on the upper floors.
Underground and basement parking capacity will be at 400-600 cars. The current plan is to have a robo-garage, similar in concept to the one being built in West Hollywood. Original marquees at the building will also be restored. The structure is expected to complete after 24 to 30 months.
