Wait what?! The world first crypt hotel room just opened its door for public use. As per CNN News, a hotel Crypt hotel room in Maine opened giving guests a chance to feel what it's like "to sleep" inside a custom built coffin. As per report, the crypt was once a home which belongs to a body of a catholic priest who died more than a century ago. The custom built coffin is big enough for two guests in case one isn't brave enough to stay for the night.
Attached into a newly opened boutique Hotel Inn at the Agora, the underground tomb was converted from the rectory of St. Patrick's Church. The owner Andrew Knight stated that the Crypt Hotel room is a first of its kind in the United States which opened last Saturday (August 1, 2015).
Spooky as it may seem, the crypt does have all the hotel's benefits and features such as a clean bathroom, room service, a TV that comes with a selection of 60 classic horror films in a living room, and a custom built coffin suited for two adults.
As per Los Angeles Times, the owner himself came up with the idea of the crypt stating via email that: "unlike a kitschy Halloween haunted house, the crypt is real." It was then stated that the original occupant was Msgr. Thomas Wallace, who was the church's first priest who stayed in the crypt from 1907 to 2009 when he was later on moved to Mt. Hope Cemetery. Knight then noted on the website that "to preserve its authenticity, we have not changed anything except for the addition of furnishings and a few modern comforts." Which simply means everything is the same as what it used to.
The crypt does not come in cheap, the price ranges from $450 during low season which is May to September and increases to $680 on high season, though these prices already covers two people, and it does include the Hotel Crypt visit and Inn in the Agora.
