The elevator is normally only seen in malls, shopping centers, groceries and supermarkets. It is due to the fact that, aside from being expensive, all homes with a second or third floor only have the classic stairs. But what about having an elevator at home for a change and replacing the usual stairs and lifts for the immobile household members? Sounds impossible but in the United Kingdom, it is very possible.

According to a news report by Curbed, people from England can now enjoy the luxury of using an elevator at home. The credit is due to Terry Lifts, a United Kingdom-based company which designed the Lifestyle Home Elevator. The Home Elevator is a more beautiful and handy substitute to the usual stairs or lifts for people who are not able to use stairs. Aside from the benefit of allowing people convenience at home, it also has a unique and eye-catching style that is based on the TV series Star Trek.

The England home elevator could park upstairs even when the home owner is downstairs and vice-versa. This main feature is called the shaft-less design. Another exciting feature are the micro switches at the bottom. The switches are quite sensitive and trigger an emergency brake when touched. This is very important as it prevent accidents especially if there are kids or small children in the house.

Based on a report by Fast Company Exist, the elevator also possesses a glass-paneled podule that requires a slightly greater than a hole in the floor in between rooms, as it goes up and down on a railway that conceals the hydraulic movement.

Now, what happens during a power outage? No need to panic as the elevator has a battery pack specifically designed for mid-journey power off.

Terry Lifts representative John McSweeney said that, "The second reaction is the pod's design does look like the, you know, 'Beam me up, Scotty,' Star Trek. You know you go in, there are two people at a time maximum, usually one, and then off it disappears."

A futuristic, fantastic innovation and a space saver as well, soon there will be no stairs seen on every home. Watch the video below for an amazing tour.
