The land owners in Scotland are being urged by the Scottish government to participate in the newly implemented mapping process. According to a recent report by propertywire.com, "The Registers of Scotland is to work with Scottish Land and Estates to make sure that landowners in Scotland are part of the process that will see all privately owned land registered and mapped by 2024." It all began after the Scottish government met last July 31st with the Highland members to discuss Voluntary Land Registration as stated in a report by scottishlandandestates.com.

It is imperative for the Scottish Government to complete the country's land registry of privately owned land and property by the year 2024. For the publicly owned titles, it needs to be completed by the year 2019. According to a previous report by propertywire.com, "At the moment, around 58 percent of all Scottish properties are on the register and around 27 percent of Scotland's land mass."

Are there benefits that comes along with voluntary registering lands and properties? It seems like it. According a recent report by propertywire.com, "The benefits will include clarity of title on the map based system, which provides greater certainty and security about what is owned and voluntary registration also includes a state backed warranty of the information contained in the title deed."

This method will certainly ensure that no issues can arise regarding ownership. It will also promote clarity in the land titles as well. A governing body was set up by the Scottish government to assist in the transition and easy flow of the process. According to a recent report by propertywire.com, "The Keeper of the Registers of Scotland has a new lever known as Keeper Induced Registration (KIR), wherein anyone can register the land and property with no involvement of the owner."

With this new property policy on Scotland, the Scots will enjoy the benefits of future land transactions that are quicker and easier.
