Mendes, who is the director of movies such as American Beauty, Road to Perdition and Revolutionary Road married the Titanic Star in 2003 and soon moved to New York. Winslet divorced Mendes in 2010 during the filming of Revolutionary Road, in which he directed Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Together, Mendes and Winslet, owned an eight bedroom manor house in the Cotswolds and a triplex apartment in Manhattan. "Kate really wants to leave the apartment. She sees it as a house of horrors because of the fights she and Sam had there. She feels it is tainted," a friend of Winslet told the paper.

A few days ago, the Daily Mail reported, that a one million dollar property once owned by the Titanic star was burned to the ground. Winslet bought the property in 2001 when she was married to her first husband, Jim Threapleton, the paper said.
