Now it is easier to own the latest iPhone with Sprint. According to a report in CNET, as of Monday, customers new to Sprint, or existing Sprint subscribers eligible to upgrade, can buy a 16-gigabyte iPhone 6 for $22 per month. On the Sprint website, where it says, "Sprint Customers Can Upgrade Their iPhone Anytime, Included in Their Monthly Rate", there are three key steps to get the latest iPhone. The first step is that the customer gets a 16GB iPhone 6 model for $22 or the $15 special promotional price with trade-in when you activate on any individual unlimited plan or family share pack plan. The second step tells its subscribers to upgrade to the latest iPhone by the end of the year and keep the $15 a month special promotion price. The third step says, at your next upgrade, the monthly cost is $22.
This is good news to all the die-hard iPhone fans. It sounds easy and very enticing. According to CNET this is Sprint's strategy to outshine its chief rival T-Mobile, which has introduced a similar program two months earlier. Last June, T-Mobile announced its new Jump on Demand program that lets its subscribers upgrade their smartphones whenever they want on two conditions: the subscriber can do this up to only three times a year and the subscriber needs to buy a new smartphone to join Jump on Demand. However, in this program, T-Mobile gives its subscribers choices other than the iPhone such as Samsung's Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, the LG G4 and more models to come along the way.
The Sprint promotion covers only iPhone units but unlike T-Mobile, the upgrade has no limit for eligible subscribers and the upgrade can be done on the spot. The website also says that if the subscriber is stuck in a contract with another carrier Sprint will pay off the old phone and contract so one can switch easily. Does it sound too good to be true? What do you think?
