'Clash of Clans' recently celebrated its third year anniversary, and SuperCell, the game's developers, are letting us in on why the game is such a huge success, what surprises are yet in store, and how the ClashCon is going to unite the over 100 million players of the game.

'Clash of Clans' was first released in 2012 by Supercell as a free mobile MMO (massive multiplayer online) strategy video game. Also fondly called as "COC" by its players, the game is free to download and play--though some of its game items can also be purchased. To be able to play the game one must be at least 13 years of age, as well as must have a network connection. According to Google Play, 'Clash of Clans' has already been downloaded and installed by over 100 million players (and the numbers could even be near 500 million).

Jonas Collaros, 'Clash of Clans' server programmer, said at a recent Game Developers Conference that the reason the game is such a huge success is because it's free. According to Collaros, this has made the game available to many, as well as more accessible to players, most of which have already made it a part of their daily lives.

Now that the game is three years old, can COC players and fans look forward to more? The answer is yes, as Supercell has recently released an update that gives resources a week's worth of boost while costing players just one gem, as reported by Master Herald. There are other game boosts and surprises, so avid gamers should stay in the know.

Another thing to look forward to is the ClashCon, the first-ever Supercell-hosted convention for the game. The ClashCon aims to unite players from all over the world, and will take place this Oct. 24 in Helsinki, Finland, where the game was created. Helsinki is also Supercell's base of operation. The company has promised that the ClashCon will surprise 'Clash of Clans' players, according to a report by Touch Arcade. COC players, gamers and fans should keep themselves up-to-date as Supercell is sure to release more details about the ClashCon in the coming weeks.
