Families usually go for out of town vacations to spend time with each other. They always find ways on how to enjoy their family time even with a tight budget. Oftentimes, half or more of your vacation money is being spent in hotel expenses alone. Here are a few tips to cut down your expenditure in a hotel, so you can have more money to spend enjoying the attractions and activities of the place you're visiting.
1. Take advantage of promotions, coupons, rewards, and discounts.
Most hotels have discount coupons and other promotional price cuts posted to their sites or some of their affiliated sites. Also consider signing up for money-saving sites such as Groupon and Living Social. Credit Card points can also be used in place of cash in some hotels that are affiliated with your credit card. The Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Visa and the American Express Starwood Preferred Guest Card are popular options. Other hotels also have some loyalty discounts offering free nights if you have reached a certain number of time staying in that hotel.
2. Mind the date when you are planning to go on a vacation.
Hotel rates vary depending on the season. Chances are if you go there during their peak seasons, their prices are extremely high. But, if you go there during regular seasons, you will have the chance to avail of their services for a cheaper price. Also plan to go on vacation in mid-week rather than on weekends. Some hotels have higher prices during the weekend due to a lot of customers coming in.
3. Know your bundles.
Some hotels offer bundles that consist travel, leisure, and living fees. Be mindful that other bundles may not really be there to help you save your money. If a hotel or a travel agency offers a good bundle, try and research the prices of each commodities included in the bundle separately.
If you are really on a tight budget, there are always other choices other than hotels.
