Rapper Jermaine Dupri was able to save his home from foreclosure a second time The musician's Atlanta home was on the verge of foreclosure when Dupri managed to lodge a last-minute petition, just in time to stop the sale.
In early September 2012, Dupri's home was close to being auctioned as he had not paid his mortgage. Dupri owed around $193,404 and somehow managed to ward off the foreclosure in September by claiming that he was being overcharged, reported TMZ.
"There was no foreclosure sale of the property ... We are presently working with the lender to reconcile our disagreement over the [mortgage amount due]," James Kane, Dupri's lawyer told TMZ in September.
However, since November 2012, Dupri again failed to make any mortgage payments and the home was slated to be forfeited on Jan. 2. The company claimed that he owed around $410,000 on the property. However, Dupri said that he owed only $111,845 and filed a last minute petition that saved his house from going up for auction, reported Contact Music.
The judge consented to Dupri's claims and called off the auction. However, a final hearing on the debt issue is awaited, reported The Urban Daily.
Dupri borrowed around $2.5 million for his Mount Paran Road house in Atlanta. The rapper's financial crisis has been documented by the paparazzi all the while. Along with his mortgage loans, Dupri also owes the government a certain amount of money in taxes since 2007, reported Straight from the A.
