Interior decorator and television host Nate Berkus sold his Chicago condo for $1.6 million. The property was initially listed in January 2011 for $2.65 million.
Berkus purchased the property for $1.5 million in 2003. The Gold Coast property is located in an Andrew Rebori-designed building originally built in 1928, which was later renovated by another architect, Samuel Marx, in 1940, reports The Chicago Tribune.
The place was constantly featured in lifestyle magazines like Elle Décor and Chicago. Berkus himself has made continuous appearances on the "Oprah Winfrey Show" and now hosts his own talk show called "The Nate Berkus Show".
Berkus chopped the price of the condo four times before actually selling it for $1.6 million. After the latest price chop, the property sported a price tag of 1.89 million, which apparently was negotiated down again, reports The Tribune.
The place is a 4,000 square-foot home sporting hardwood floors, state-of-the-art temperature controlling systems and an antique style fireplace. The master suite includes an English tub as well, reports The Daily Mail.
The sale of the home follows Berkus's alleged affair with Jeremy Brent, Rachel Zoe's former assistant. Berkus will be relocating to the West Coast to be closer to Brent. Berkus and Brent started dating in October and were spotted kissing at a Barney's Event in New York, reports US Magazine.
Berkus was previously said to be dating creative director, Brian Atwood. However, the relationship ended in 2009.
