Former Angels Joe Blanton has bought a vineyard estate in Calistoga, Calif., for $2.8 million.

The Major League baseball pitcher, who played for both Dodgers and Angels has purchased a Cape Cod-inspired farmhouse with three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms in 5,200 square feet. Set among mature oaks on more than five acres, the outdoor of the area is surrounded with formal gardens. It has a courtyards, fountains and a vineyard that creates a picturesque backdrop for the grounds.

The two story house features a kitchen with a wide center island and a wood-paneled office/library. Within the house are formal living room and dining rooms with fireplaces. A guest house accessed by a long breezeway has two additional quarters for a total of five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms.

According to Los Angeles Times, the house was listed on the market for $4.25 million back in 2013. The price recently went down to $2.95 million. In 1999 it was sold for $1.37 million.

Over the course of 12 seasons, Blanton has pitched for six teams, including his current team Pittsburgh Pirates. Last offseason the Angels signed the right- handed starter to a two-year, $15 million contract, but after some terrible spring training the team decided to release him in 2014, as per NBC Sports.

According to SB Nation, after facing sudden "diminished velocity" and had shortly rest from baseball in 2014, he actually returned with renewed velocity. Since joining the team of Royals and Pirates, Blanton compiled at 5-2 record with a 2.86 earned run average in 26 games this year. Seeing time with Pittsburgh Pirates, nothing has changed much with his movement but his pitch usage has changed significantly since joining the team and he has struck out a large number of batters.

Blanton, who posted a career record of 85 - 89 with 1,086 strikeouts and an ERA of 4.51 has a net worth of $22 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
