Grammy-award winning singer Mary J. Blige was hit with a $901,769.65 tax lien in New Jersey where she resides in her Saddle River mansion, reported Zillow blog.
On top of that, Bank of America is suing her for not paying back a $500,000 loan she took out in 2002. She also owes her landscaper $4,000. Other money troubles are also adding up and totaling to $3 million.
Blige's beautiful abode is taking the beating now. The mansion was originally listed for $14 million in 2011 and had to be cut down to $12.5 million, which is how much she bought it for in 2008.
The 18,250-square-foot estate sits on top of a 4-acre property. She bought the French country-style home with her husband, music producer, Martin Isaacs. The power couple paid in cash in 2008. The diva and Isaacs both defaulted on their mortgages from several banks. Aside from Bank of America, other banks are expected to follow with lawsuits.
Their property taxes run at $100,000 a year, reported Zillow, and comes with eight bedrooms, an entertainment room and relaxation room, a built-in movie theatre, fitness center and gourmet kitchen.
The New York Post reported in May of 2012 that Blige's home and property weren't the only assets in trouble. Her New York-based charity, the Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for Advancement of Women Now, didn't file tax returns. In addition, hundreds of thousands of dollars from donations went missing and the foundation defaulted on a $250,000 loan from TD Bank.
The loan was taken in June of 2011 and the charity was reportedly only able to reproduce $400 by the December pay back deadline, The Post reported.
"The problem is that I didn't have the right people in the right places doing the right things," said Blige at the time to The Post.
