It's easy to spot these days Corning's Gorilla Glass as it sits on top of most smartphone and tablet display panels, and as it also appears to be sturdy. The less used Dragon trail Glass by Asahi also boasts impressive toughness. Samsung will soon join these two for a similar offering. Samsung has filed for a trademark for Turtle Glass with the authority of South Korea.

GSM Arena said Samsung's application for the trademark asserts that it will be used for a protective tempered glass designed for tablets, music players, phones, cameras, and so on.  

Samsung Company is one of the biggest customers of Corning so far, so if it's true that Samsung is going to start using Corning's solution in the future, it will be interesting to know what position the maker of Gorilla Glass will be.

While the Korean company has a plan to use Turtle Glass on the Galaxy S7, it may be possible also that this type of glass will also be utilized in the production of the foldable smartphone that Samsung has patented recently.
