On Tuesday, a leaked render of what appears to be the Microsoft's wearable fitness tracker has been circulating online. The leaked render shows a sleeker and redesigned Microsoft Band. Industry experts who are familiar with the company's wearable tech, claim that Microsoft is gearing up to release a second generation fitness band that will be possibly called the Microsoft Band 2, a report from Gamespot said.

The leaked render of the rumored Microsoft Band 2 was first spotted on the Microsoft Insider website. Microsoft's band, which was codenamed "Envoy," is said to borrow some design features from another wearable tech device, the Samsung Gear Fit.

It can be recalled that the first Microsoft Band which was released a year ago has been heavily criticized because of its poor design. If the most recent leaked render is true, the new design and style-curved construction and metal accents, as seen in the leaked photo, will reportedly eventually rectify the design pitfalls of Microsoft's fitness tracker.

"The Band also seems to keep the long, rectangular touchscreen as the original, as well as two physical buttons on the bottom edge of the device. Aside from design, we don't know much about the Microsoft Band 2 in terms of new features. Some rumors claim it could come with upgraded sensors, including an altimeter for height-change detection while climbing stairs, as well as a Starbucks partnership that would allow people to pay for drinks by connecting their Starbucks card to the band," Ars Technica said, describing the Microsoft's Envoy design and features.

Tech Radar reports that the Microsoft Band is also expected to have a tracking ability that can actually give a more accurate fitness statistics. There's currently scarce information about the upcoming fitness band, but recent reports suggest that Microsoft will likely unveil the device including the Surface Pro tablet, among others, on October 6 during the Windows 10 press event.
