A new office and residential tower is all set to grace the skyline of downtown San Francisco. The 54-story high rise will be located on a parcel just next to Transbay Terminal and will be developed by famous builders, Jay Paul Company. Construction on the project will begin almost immediately and the total project cost will be around $375 million.

Apparently, the high-rise is a part of the new Transbay Transit Center District Plan, currently under construction. Located at 181 Fremont Street, the 800-foot tall building will comprise of a total 684,000 square feet of office space and residential condo apartments. The tower will comprise of 420,000 square feet of office space along with a boutique retail area on the fifth floor. The building will have 74 residential units spread across 14 floors. Construction will be completed by 2015, reports Bloomberg.

The Heller Manus Architects designed building will be one of the two structures that will connect to the city park above the new Transbay Transit via a sky-bridge. Upon completion, the tower will also be the second-tallest structure of San Francisco, the first being the "Transbay Transit Tower Complex," which has just started construction, reports Registry.

The Transbay Tower will span a height of 1070 feet upon completion. Currently, the tallest building in San Francisco is the 853-feet-tall, Transamerica Pyramid.

"We are extremely excited about this opportunity to develop a landmark property that will transform San Francisco's skyline as well as provide the City with additional high quality office space and luxury residential condos," Jay Paul, founder of Jay Paul Company said in a statement.

"181 Fremont Street will be a very iconic building. The unobstructed views and exoskeleton structural system that allows for column free layouts and floor-to-ceiling windows will be optimal for tech tenants. We think there are a lot of elements in the design that make 181 Fremont Street unique," he added.
