"Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" premiered on Sunday. After the first episode had been aired, reviews have been circulated online.

Inquisitr says that episode 1 didn't disappoint its fans. In fact, "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" will have a good chance of becoming another great series of "Gundam" in the mecha anime. The title of the first episode "Iron and Blood" is apt and delivers a good start.

It is also with the hope that the remaining 24 episodes could sustain the hype. With fingers crossed, fans are hoping that "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" will not end up like the "Gundam G no Reconguista," especially that the "Orphans" is the next series that will follow soon after "Reconguista."

If remembered, the "Gundam G no Reconguista," was not able to hold up all through out its season. Avid fans (especially those who really grow up with this type of meca anime) had high hopes for the previous series. Fans began very optimistic for the first few episodes. However, it fell short with from expectations. Today, it is "known for its child-like animation style, utter lack of realism, vacuous characters, and confusing plot."

Good news is, when comparing the first episode of "Orphans" from "Reconguista," it's so obvious that the new series comes out better. "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" has a gritty and sharp animation. It also has more realistic plot, which is also edgier at the same time and "reminiscent of the wildly popular Mobile Suit Gundam 00."

Reno Gazette-Journal has also shared its review of the"Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" debut episode. It says that judging its subject matter, it appears that "Orphans" is a grittier show, which is reflected in its art style. However, the critic could not give concrete rating of the characters since episode 1 won't give away the "full picture" so to speak. Nonetheless, looking at the protagonist, it seems that "Mika doesn't seem like the hot-blooded type, though [the critic hopes] that he doesn't turn out to be a whiney, emo kind of character." Mika and Orga's partnership also resembles that of Simon and Kamina vibe from Gurren Lagann, which could turn out into a positive thing in the series. "Otherwise, you also get some stereotypical anime personalities in there including the salty rival, the cocky yet overmatched enemy pilot, the overcompensating newbie and the caring chubby support dude named, uh, Biscuit."
