Luxury real estate is surging with many high-end properties placed in the market, including hundred million-dollar homes of celebrities and famous personalities.

Real estate valued at $100 million or more is neither for the faint of heart nor for the average citizen. According to News.com.au, having a movie room or a tennis court in the yard simply will not cut it for a luxury property. Homes with ultra-high price tags have bowling alleys, bathrooms in double digit numbers, and other things that the rich and moneyed can afford to splurge on.

In the same report, several hundred million-dollar properties were recently placed a "for sale" sign at the front gates and the real estate market is waiting with bated breath for would be takers. Billionaire Jeff Greene tops the list with his Palazzo di Amore Estate in Beverly Hills on the market since last year for $276 million. Great news for those interested as the price has been cut down to a "measly" $211 million. The property has 23 bathrooms, 12 bedrooms, a vineyard, a bowling alley and the driveway is 1.6km long.

Max Azria of BCBG Max Azria Group Fashion House is asking for $120 million for his Maison Du Soleil in Sunset Blvd. It has 60 rooms with 22 bathrooms and five kinds of gardens each with its unique theme like Japanese and Moroccan. Tommy Hilfiger is also selling the Dome Penthouse in New York's Plaza for $150 million which he bought in 2008 for $55 million. But he has reportedly spent over $24 million for renovations which would justify the price tag.

In a report by CNBC, the $100 million is a new high for "trophy" homes or luxury properties as far as pricing goes. There have been five homes in 2014 that were sold with $100 million or more sale prices.
