Lady Gaga opened up about her anxiety and depression in the new Billboard Magazine cover, where she appears alongside Elton John. She claimed she's suffering from the condition for a long time and is still experiencing it until now. She revealed it was the reason why she started her Born This Way foundation.
During the interview, she admitted that she's aware that a lot of youth are suffering from depression and she said that she wanted to help them, Daily Mail reports.
"I've suffered through depression and anxiety my entire life, I still suffer with it every single day," Lady Gaga tells Billboard Magazine. "I just want these kids to know that the depth they feel as human beings is normal. We were born that way."
Lady Gaga also expressed her views on modern technology. She reportedly believes that social media is keeping people apart. For her, it is the reason why some people are depressed. She added that the youth feels isolated and less sociable because of social sites.
"This modern thing, where everyone is feeling shallow and less connected? I's not human," Lady Gaga admits. "There is something in the way that we are now, with our cell phones and people are not looking at each other and not being in the moment with each other, that kids feel isolated."
Lady Gaga pointed out the effect of Internet on people's lives. She believes that it teaches bad language to the youth and even regards it as a "toilet." Taylor Kinney's fiancée also claimed that there is something that must be done to help people suffering from anxiety.
During the interview, the "Poker Face" singer also spoke about her good friend Elton John, whom she regards as her parent.
Lady Gaga is currently busy with her role as the mysterious blood-sucking Countess in the "American Horror Story: Hotel" FX series. "AHS" airs every Wednesday at 10 p.m.
