Microsoft is enticing everyone to switch to Windows 10.  In their new promotion called Easy Trade Up, the company urges consumers to trade in their old laptops and get a sweet reward: $200 for a Windows computer, and $300 for a MacBook.

Here are the key terms:

1. You have to purchase a Windows 10 machine from Microsoft Store worth at least $599. Purchases must be made from Oct. 14 until Oct. 20.

2.  Trade in your old laptop or Macbook within 30 days from purchase. Qualifying devices should have at least 11.3-inch displays, are not more than six years old, and must be in an undamaged, working condition.

3.  Your reward will be sent within 28 days of validation.

The promo is valid for U.S. and Canada consumers only, but according to ZDNet, Microsoft has extended its offer to international markets, specifically Germany, UK, France, India, Taiwan, and Brazil.  The international promo is coursed through third party retailers and have different terms.

In the UK, the campaign runs until Oct. 27. The maximum rebate is £100 ($154) for purchases £499 ($771) and above.  £50 ($77) will be given for purchases between £349 and £498.99 ($539 and $770), and £30 ($46) for purchases between £249 and £348.99 ($384 and $539).

Similar terms apply in Germany and France, with a promised rebate of €100 ($113) for purchases of €799 ($907) or more, €75 ($85) for purchases between €499 and €798 ($566 and $906), and €50 ($57) for purchases between €349 and €498 ($396 and $565).

This aggressive marketing move could be a way for Microsoft to juice up the sales of Windows 10, which has been released last July.  According to Fox News, the new operating system has been failing to meet expectations since its release.  Reports show that PC sales fell between seven percent and 11 percent in the third quarter this year.  The company is hoping that this promotion, with its sweet pot of reward, will boost sales and presence in the market.
