Rumor has it that South Korea mobile maker Samsung is gearing up to release its new flagship smartphone, Samsung Galaxy S7, in early 2016. The news comes after ET News, a publication based in Korea, has revealed that the company's smartphone will likely be released on January 19. It was said that the rumored device will have "premium" and "sub-premium" models.
"Samsung is set to be the first Android manufacturer to use a '3D Touch' screen in its upcoming Galaxy S7, it has been claimed. The screen, believed to be being manufactured by Synaptics, would give the Galaxy a similar interface to Apple's iPhone 6s. The technology allows users to control what they see on the screen depending on how they press it," the Daily Mail UK said.
According to the report, the rumored Samsung Galaxy S7 comes with a larger screen display. The phone is expected to have 128 GB of internal memory. Recent reports claim that the phone will be equipped with 3D Touch capabilities, which the company calls "ClearForce." The phone's new feature is similar to Apple's 3D Touch that can be found in the latest models such as iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s Plus.
iDigital Times reports that Samsung's Synaptic's ClearForce "adds pressure sensitivity to smartphone touchscreens, allowing different pressure to execute different functions." The device's new feature was first discovered back in April 2014, according to a tech blog wherein details of the "Synaptic's ClearForce" have been publicly revealed.
"The Korean Intellectual Property Office recently published the patent, called 'Touch Input Apparatus and Electronic Device Having Thereof,'" it said.
"Synaptic has been associated with Samsung for a while now; this is not the first time Samsung may employ that company's technology in its smartphones, thanks to earlier Galaxy Note models. There's no confirmation yet on whether Samsung will have a 3D Touch-like feature in its upcoming flagships, so it's best to take this with a grain of salt," Extreme Tech noted.
