Khloe Kardashian broke her silence in the wake of former husband Lamar Odom's hospitalization after being found unconscious in a Vegas brothel.
For the first time since news broke about Odom's accident on Oct. 13, the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star released a full statement on her website regarding the incident. The statement was then reposted by Sporting News.
"The past week has been incredibly difficult," the 31-year-old reality star wrote. "I am so thankful to family, friends, and fans, who have sent nothing but prayers and well wishes to Lamar."
Kardashian also expressed gratitude to Sunrise Hospital staff, doctors and nurses "for their kindness and diligent work. Under their amazing care, incredible strides have been made."
Kim Kardashian's younger sister admitted that one could never be prepared for such experience. Yet, she said the outpouring of support and endless prayers from family and fans have helped her endure their difficult situation.
The former NBA star's estranged wife had kept mum up until Oct. 20, Tuesday morning after Odom was released from Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas. The only other statement made was done via the Kardashians' rep asking the brothel's owner, Denis Hof, to respect Odom's privacy.
In the statement sent to Us magazine, it was mentioned that the Kardashian family reached out to Hof and politely asked him to refrain from speaking with the press as it was a difficult time for Odom and his family. The statement also pointed out how the incident should not be used for any publicity.
Kardashian and Odom tied the knot in 2009. Shortly after, the then-happy couple started their own reality show, "Khloe and Lamar," a spinoff to the highly popular "Keeping Up With The Kardashians." However, in 2013, they filed for a divorce citing irreconcilable differences. Although both have signed the divorce papers in July, their break-up is not yet final.
