The more we examine the world outside our world is the more we realize that it is shrouded with some mysteries and questions that our modern science cannot conclusively answer. Despite the seen challenges, astronomers and experts alike are still persistent in trying to unlock the mystery of the vast world outside our known world, the outer space.
With the recent discovery of the mysterious star named as KIC 8462852, other questions came to fore as NASA and other astronomers continued their observation and study of the said mysterious star. Just few days ago, it was reported that another peculiar object is nearby the star, and some proposed that it is an alien megastructure orbiting the star.
Though there was no confirmation about the theory, still some astronomers did not fully debunk the possibility of the said alien megastructure. Astronomers who discovered the bizarre alien megastructure that is orbiting star KIC 8462852 was quick to clarify via yahoo stating that;
"Just to clarify, neither [my colleague] Jason [Wright] or myself... are advocating that it is an alien megastructure, but we also can't completely rule it out."
Though the idea of an alien megastructure that is orbiting star KIC 8462852 lacks conclusive evidence, still some hopefuls are trying to stretch the idea of it. According to space, some astronomers are looking for radio signals that could have been produced by an intelligent alien life. And this hypothesis is strongly linked to the strange light curves coming from star KIC 8462852 and the so-called alien megastructure orbiting around it.
The idea of extraterrestrial civilization is championed by astronomer Jason Wright of Penn State University. According to an updated report, Wright is currently preparing his own paper which interprets the bizarre light patterns as a sign of intelligent alien life. Wright explained via yahoo stating that;
"Aliens should always be the very last hypothesis you consider, but this looked like something you would expect an alien civilization to build."
The idea being proposed by Wright and some colleagues is indeed interesting. However, NASA's Steve Howell immediately slammed the idea of alien civilization in relevance to star KIC 8462852, bizarre light curves and megastuctures. Howell pointed out a previous incident involving another star known as KIC 4110611, which was thought to have strange light curves similar to KIC 8462852. Howell then explained that;
"But after a few years of working to find out why, it turned out to be a five star system. Yes, perhaps unique, but not alien structures," he said. I think we as scientists will make additional observations of the mysterious star and eventually, more than likely, find out it too is an odd but stellar signal."
The explanation of NASA seemed to be logical; however, logic is being overshadowed by our imagination and the need for affirmation. There are still many individuals in constant watch for any signs of alien life coming from KIC 8462852 and other heavenly bodies.
